Brake check

Had my brake check today ... All is good, asked how much new pads would cost me .. £218 for the front only , £430 for all 4 ... Took me ages to stop laughing !! Lol

Think I will pop over to Steveb and let him do it ,,,

lol funny enough ive just changed the rear pads on mine today a grand total of 14 pound

cool .... put kettle on i`m on my way !!

is it a difficult thing to do? silly question i know ... i`m not realy a hands on person lol

no not rearly its just abit daunting the first time . its just 2 bolts and the anti vibration clip to take off but the back are abit more awkward than the front as u have push and twist the piston in not just push like the front

you lost me at "vibration clip" .... have about 4,000 miles on my front so there is no rush ... eeek

lol its a thin strip of metal on the front of the brakes you will be able to see it looking through the wheel . if you want me to put some pics on to show how do it thats not a problem

do you use a special tool to compress the piston thingy?

thats alot easier than pics lol you dont have to buy the caliper kit it does make life easier but they aint cheap you can use a g clamp to push it it

i`m going to order some now ...!!!!

another question .. possible to paint the caliper while still on the car?

im in the process of doin mine now its not the easiest thing to do while on the car can get abit messy . it will be alot easier to take them of completely but this means you will have bleed the brake system

ere they ain`t that bad ... was just going to paint what you could see through the wheel ... lol

you can do i suggest get some masking tape and smallish brush tho

so spraying the caliper, disc and pads is not a good idea .....

yeah painting disk and pads is not a good idea they may look nice but most likely you will end up in a bush

think i shall buy some paint and paint them ... red, yellow or blue ... hmmmmmm

ive gone with red . but i like the idea of blue

depends how stand out ish i want them, yellow would look better i think !

you can`t do yellow now !!! i`m doing that colour , think pink would look nice on your car, you could paint the mirrors to match ... lol

lol will leave that to matt haha . im thinking blue but it depends on what i do to my alloys

you can`t change the alloys !!!! unless your fitting caterpillar tracks ... awesome idea ..

i think they would nice in chrome ....not the really shiny stuff just a little chrome

not the biggest fan on chrome was thinking doin the centres gun metal grey but with a twist but leaving the polished dish as it is

sounds good, like the twist leaving the dish polished .... i`m still thinking black wheels !!

if ur wanting black u could always have a twist by putting a pearl tinter in it they come in a wide rage of colours blue white green purple ect

thinking of mat black rather than have a shine on them ,,,

you can still put a tinter in . well it depends if ur doin it a rattle can or gettin them sprayed

i can spray them at work on a saturday ... can order paint through work too !

if you go down the matt black route there is waterbased 2pak paint called imron hydro topcoat made by dupont if u can get hold of that its hard wearing brilliant for wheels
